Environment
We are committed to sustainability and the wildlife of our oceans. We only use Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus Pelamis) and we were the first to source tuna fished using Dolphin Safe methods for Greenseas in 1991. For more information about Dolphin Safe, visit the Earth Island Institute website. In addition to being Dolphin Safe, (purse-seine) fishing methods minimise impact on other marine wildlife such as sea birds, rays, turtles and sharks.
Today, we are even more committed to preserving our marine environment by supporting scientific research in the Western Central Pacific Ocean, where our tuna is caught. We support the Oceanic Fisheries Program (OFP) run by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, to research tuna sustainability and provide scientific advice to all those involved in tuna fishing across the region. Click here for more information about the OFP and tuna sustainability issues.
Our support of the OFP helps to ensure the health and sustainability of our oceans and a healthy future for the tuna that Australian consumers have known and loved for over 40 years.
